In Peru, Catholicism is the more common religion because it was primarily inherited by the Spanish Conquest (Amatua Spanish). In 2003, this is what Peruvian religion was composed of: 81% Roman Catholicism, 1% Seventh-Day Adventist, 1% other Christian, and 16% unspecified (Maps of World). In every village, town, or city there is some form of church or cathedral, patron saint, and religious days (Country Studies). There is a patronal festival that is held in each settlement annually. The costs of this festival vary between which town or area it is in. People participate in these events for reassuring social identity, religious devotion, or just to serve the community (Country Studies)
